The Sarina Sugar Shed is a food and agri-tourism experience unique to Australia, and literally takes our visitors on a food tourism journey from farm to plate. A multi award winning agri-tourism attraction, open to the public seven days a week. We offer visitors the opportunity to use all their senses whilst they learn about the regions rich agricultural heritage. They taste an incredible array of products using locally grown sugar cane, processed through our ingenious miniature sugar mill, combined with a range of other local ingredients to create absolutely unique products with incredible regional flavours.
Our small-scale production facility allows us to take advantage of fresh, seasonal regional produce when it’s in its prime. We create a boutique range of gourmet sweet and savoury sauces, chutneys and relishes, as well as a selection of homemade ice creams. These products are manufactured on site, in our commercial kitchen.
The miniature distillery is not just a novelty, it punches way above its weight when it comes to quality and diversity. We produce a range of medal winning liqueurs, high quality rum and non-alcoholic ginger beer. Wine makers speak of terroir, as a way of describing the unique difference created by the growing environment to the flavour of their product. We celebrate our provenance via the unique combination of our soil, climate, skill and distinctive miniature milling process by producing a high quality sugar syrup base for our distillery, that creates an absolutely unique flavour that is reflective of our region.
Our team of staff and volunteers are proud to be associated with Mackay’s only genuine farmers’ market. Each week Sarina Sugar Shed brings to the markets our array of value added gourmet sauces, chutneys and relishes as well our Mooscoop Icecream.
